Background
As part of the Climate Change Action Plan for England's
Northwest 2007-09, the Northwest Regional Development Agency is
making available some £2M to support Small to Medium Sized
companies to development and demonstrate innovative Carbon emission
reducing technologies.
Applications for this funding can be made under the Development strand of Grant for Research and Development, by indicating the type of Carbon Reducing technology when prompted. Further details about this can be found in the supplimentary guidance note provided under the related documents section on this page. This note should be used in conjuction with the main Grant for Research and Development scheme guidance also available on this website.
Project funding is available of between £20,000 and £250,000 per project (provided at up to 40% intervention rate).
What type of projects are eligible?
Waste treatment and recycling: The treatment of all solid wastes
irrespective of source and hazardous waste even if in liquid or
gaseous forms. Examples: separation of plastics, treatment of
organic waste etc.
Water pollution: Liquid waste treatment irrespective of source.
Covers industrial water pollution such as the removal of toxic
contaminants, aerobic and anaerobic digestion and the production of
chemicals, such as alcohol, from waste.
Air pollution: Includes emissions of polluting gases to atmosphere
and the technology required to minimise and / or treat such
gases.
Land remediation: technologies to enhance the regeneration of contaminated land such as, the removal of oil contamination, biological contamination and underground water pollution.
Energy generation and energy efficiency devices: Including smart meters, renewable energy technologies and energy efficient equipment. With devices in this technology area it may also be worth considering support available from the Northwest Energy Innovation Centre www.energyinnovationcentre.co.uk
Others Innovative technologies: We will consider applications
for the development of other technologies that are not included in
the above. Examples are: technologies that fall within two or more
of the above classification such as energy from waste, noise and
vibration and similar environmental factors.
