How to Apply

Please note that the Northwest Regional Development Agency is not accepting any new grant applications, or processing existing ones, at the present time.

Government has required us to substantially reduce our expenditure and as a result we have embarked on a comprehensive project review, including how we provide financial support for the region's businesses.

We appreciate this may cause some uncertainty, particularly if you have an application underway; if you have any queries please do not hesitate to contact your usual Agency contact. More information is available on the NWDA website.

Your application needs to demonstrate:

  • technical risk and technological innovation
  • commercial potential of the product or process
  • experience, skills and track record of the project team abilities
  • the need for the grant
  • any wider environmental or social benefits

The Process

You should receive an answer in approximately 8 weeks providing your application is complete

The approval process is open and transparent. We'll visit your premises to discuss the project. You'll be kept informed of our views on your application and you'll be invited to comment.

Even if you're unsuccessful, the process is beneficial. You will receive a UK Intellectual Property Office report on your project, (except for micro projects) plus the expert views of the technical advisors who assess your application. These expert opinions can help you modify any areas of the project that need attention. Ultimately, this will make it more attractive and viable for future investors.

Please note: Carbon Reduction projects submitted under the Development strand of Grant for Research and Development can only be submitted electronically, and you should refer to supplementary guidance notes in the related documents section.

Paper Applications

All applications must be submitted online for this grant from April 1st 2010.
