| Please note that the Northwest Regional Development
Agency is not accepting any new funding applications, or processing
existing ones, at the present time.
Government has required us to substantially reduce our expenditure and as a result we have embarked on a comprehensive project review, including how we provide financial support for the region's businesses. We appreciate this may cause some uncertainty, particularly if you have an application underway; if you have any queries please do not hesitate to contact your usual Agency contact. More information is available on the NWDA website. |
Who can apply for a Grant?
Any small or medium sized business planning to invest in more
efficient capital equipment in the NW which is unable to finance
the project from other sources.
Can I get a grant to install energy-efficient light
bulbs/ double-glazing/insulation?
In general, the Grant is only available to help
purchase new pieces of machinery so the installation of light
bulbs, double-glazing or insulation would not be eligible. However
we could consider applications for energy efficient light bulbs if
these formed part of a new overall energy efficient lighting
scheme.
Can a charity apply?
Charities may apply provided they are carrying out commercial
activities. For example, manufacturing and selling products.
I own a recycling business, can I apply?
Yes, as you will be diverting waste from landfill this would be
attractive project.
What level of Grant is available?
The Grant is 50% of the capital project costs. The minimum Grant is
£10,000, the maximum equivalent of 200,000 Euros.
I'm interested in applying, what should I do
next?
If you are a small or medium sized business in the NW, you should
arrange an environmental review through Business Link NW on
0845006688.
What are the criteria?
Key criteria is to demonstrate a loan from the Carbon Trust is not
available, the financial need for Grant as well as good value for
money represented by the forecast CO2 savings. Please refer to the
detailed Guidance on this website.
Where do I find out about the Carbon Trust
Loan?
More information about this is here
http://www.carbontrust.co.uk/cut-carbon-reduce-costs/products-services/business-loans/pages/loans.aspx
but suggest you discuss this point with your Environmental
Advisor.
Can I get a grant for more than one piece of
equipment?
Yes, you can apply to purchase multiple pieces of equipment perhaps
as part of your efforts to make a production line more efficient.
We will look at the overall impact of the equipment.
Can I make more than one application to the
Programme?
Yes, as long as the total of all grants received remains under 200k
Euros. An application can only be made once an earlier project has
been completed successfully.
How do I determine the environmental benefits of the
project?
You will need to arrange for an environmental
advisor to review your business. This will include looking at the
environmental benefits from installing new capital equipment as
well as lower cost options available to you to help reduce your
carbon footprint.
Are there any additional costs incurred in claiming
Grant?
Yes an audit of the project costs completed by an independent
accountant is necessary. There is also a charge for the
environmental reviews required to verify the forecast CO2
savings.
My renewable energy project is eligible for a Feed in
Tariff, can I also apply for a Grant?
Any potential offer of assistance will take into
account income generated as a result of your project. We are
seeking advice from the Department of Energy and Climate Change to
clarify the precise impact.
My renewable heat project is expected to be eligible
under the Renewable Heat Incentive. Can I also apply for a
Grant?
Yes you can.
I have previously received Deminimis Funding. Can I
